IMPACT Wrestling

So we kick off IMPACT Wrestling with a match instead of a promo and what do we have Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray against Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles who is injured (due to a piledriver) in a street fight match. Very much what you expect with a street fight in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, brawl into the crowd; bring it back to the ring, use of weapons, finisher, pinfall. That is what we got. AJ ends the match with a spike piledriver to Tommy Dreamer thus having the help of Daniels to bring Dreamer down. I’m sorry but how many times recently has AJ Styles been injured? We had Bully Ray put him through a table which injured him and then he came back at the LockDown pay per view. He then gets injured again but is now wrestling? I’m not sold on this injury, yes I know a piledriver can damage you but to keep coming out wearing a neckbrace and then having it taken off.

Next we see Hulk Hogan appear which surly means ratings? Sting is having a sit down segment but it isn’t Sting as Mr. Anderson comes out dressed as him again (which he pulls off great). Disco Inferno of WCW fame (can I say fame with Disco Inferno?) is the first guest. Mr. Anderson and Disco Inferno actually worked well together, I’m kind of in shock.

So last week when Gunner was looking to get his television title back from Eric Young he picked up the old TNA World Heavyweight Championship and I can tell that now from the fact Eric Young is walking around with the television championship (which was formerly the Global and the Legends). Have to laugh at Eric Young bringing up the not so famous finger poke of doom match with Nash and Hogan and saying that he and Gunner should recreate that later on in the night. Kind of obvious from there what will happen.

So now we have Velvet Sky come out cut a promo calling out ODB. ODB explains she attacked her because she “lies on her back to get to the top”. ODB attacks her, little catfight. Am I the only one thinking what has happened with the Sky/Love/Winter situation, they have just ended it to bring back ODB who was fired because of Velvet apparently.

So wait wasn’t James Storm injured last week, I know Roode got beat up and all that but Storm wasn’t around later in the show last week and now he is all better? Roode and Storm are the next members of Fourtune that can be screwed over right now, this being that Roode is injured. I hope they are forced to vacate the titles, yes they are a great tag team and all that but Roode needs a World title run.

So we got a little comment from “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero that was earlier in the night. He is talking about Devon being his brother and all kinds of things that are going to revolve around a feud, maybe an Xplosion feud but a feud that was kind of building up since the battle royal of which Mr. Anderson won. Backstage we see Angle just telling Matt Morgan to focus on Jeff Jarrett and not Karen Jarrett who is in a wheelchair (why would she be at ringside) but yeah very much Vickie/Edge right now with Jarrett/Karen.

So Jarrett comes down to ringside with Karen who isn’t in a wheelchair like Angle said. Morgan dominates most of the match to begin with as expected and then Karen gets involved helping Jarrett to use her crutch as a weapon which only got a two count after The Stroke. Karen interferes yet again and even though not joining Immortal or I hope not Steiner interferes and attacks Morgan to help Jarrett get the victory.

So Hogan and Bischoff have a little rant about the fact they are still in charge of IMPACT Wrestling. So was the Mick Foley network executive deal a 1 night thing? Hogan talks about the fact Eric made IMPACT better than it was before last week even though it wasn’t and the fact he destroyed the X-Division. We get Mick Foley come back out which means he has a little bit of order still then. He explains Hogan actually pissed the network off and explains the X-Division is what makes TNA what TNA is. Foley sounds like he is bringing back the World X Cup which is what we all want right now. Kendrick and the X-Division guys come out again which I guess pisses off character Bischoff. Kendrick steps up to the plate and asks for the match against Abyss later in the night instead of Mick Foley for the X-Division title.

There is some weird backstage segment with Winter and Angelina Love. Winter is then up against Mickie James. It is nice to see Winter actually get some action and against the Knockout champion is great seeing as like the commentary team said if she wins will likely put her in line for a title shot. Mickie James got the victory over Winter, even more of a shame that Winter is bleeding from the finish. Angelina Love then attacked Mickie James which hopefully doesn’t mean she is going for the title yet again.

Abyss cuts a promo backstage about how he is going to remove Brian Kendrick from IMPACT and destroy the whole X-Division. He reads from the book about the art of war. Abyss is then attacked backstage by Kazarian who takes Janice (weird name for a weapon) away from Abyss.

Kendrick comes out to face Abyss for the X-Division Championship. Christy Hemme is looking well on the ring announcing duties. Is it me or do I feel “For Whom the Bell Tolls” with Abyss’ theme song. Also Kendrick trying to take Abyss out from the start is weird but nice to see him get some offence. Abyss obviously would take some domination in the match against the smaller guy. Kendrick did well to turn the match back into his favour but shame he is against the bigger guy Abyss. One black hole slam later and Abyss is still champion. From a smaller view the X-Division title reminded me of the former WWE Women’s Championship, but at least I can see the X is what made it more distinct from that.

Angle backstage cuts a promo about RVD and how he is dangerous and a great wrestler. I can’t wait to see this match as they are two great wrestlers.

Eric Young comes out to face Gunner for the Television championship. Eric is holding the title yet isn’t the champion. This is where we are expecting to see a finger poke of doom match but I’m not. Thank god even though it was the finger poke of doom match, Eric Young reversed the pinfall and actually got the victory himself to become the TNA Television champion. Eric now has the Television championship and his own back. Quite a comedy character and what a great little feud there with Eric Young and Gunner.

Pretty decent main event, only thing I have a flaw with is the fact 1: Jeff and Karen were on commentary and then there was those couple of split screen moments which took away from the in ring action as we see Jeff and Karen at the commentary position.

Rating overall for the show would have to be a seven out of ten. Smackdown review will be up tomorrow, saves talking about something random.

WWE Superstars

Is this Superstars or more 3rd brand Heat/Velocity.

From a very comedic start to getting more serious, the Santino and Zack Ryder match had me watching everything such as when Santino hit Ryder with the Cobra to the legs and caused a paralysation until Ryder sorted it out, and from when Santino is going for a diving move for Ryder to turn it all around. A pretty decent finish for the match as Zack Ryder gets caught up in the corner when he turns around he is hit with the Cobra (shamefully not a good finisher). Santino gets the victory in what has looked to have become a feud on Superstars between Ryder & Hawkins and Santino & Kozlov.

JTG vs Curt Hawkins is the next match. Is it funny that I don’t like JTG ever since Shad and he split as a team, not being harsh but I thought by now he would have been fired? Hawkins slightly reminds me of a taller version of “The Rockstar” Spud from the UK and it is nice to see he has gone back to using the Edgehead theme song, “In The Middle Of It”. If Superstars had more in ring action than it does advertisements for WWE products it would be even better than it is now and that is Heat/Velocity level, and talking about that I believe Superstars should have its own brand, all we seem to get is the non-pushed guys in mini feuds. Hell when it first started we saw Matt Hardy square off against The Undertaker and now of days we get Drew McIntyre against Evan Bourne, Curt Hawkins against JTG, etc. So much a better match than the first one of the show, Hawkins wins via Heatseeker/Diving Elbow Drop.

So the final match of Superstars is Tyson Kidd with his new manager, Armando Estrada (used to be the manager of Umaga) against what seems to be on Superstars his rival, Trent Baretta. Tyson Kidd right now as the commentators put it, will have a new manager every week (or 2 weeks), will he revert back to Michael Hayes or will “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson be his overall manager.

I will catch TNA tomorrow along with Smackdown and review it then.

Ivelisse Velez is she Tough Enough?

We all saw Ivelisse get injured on Tough Enough and have to end it there but I’m going to be watching her indy wrestling work and explain if she is Tough Enough. Her independent wrestling name is Juliet "The Huntress" and the first match I will be watching is Juliet “The Huntress” against Ninja Bill.

She is the heel in the situation as she attacked Ninja Bill from behind, wouldn’t expect her to be a heel but I’ll see how it plays out. The arm drags she took were slow, even if it is a guy facing a girl. I don’t know in the match if the guy was going for a fisherman suplex or a pinfall because it ended up being a pinfall. The head off a top rope dirty tactic came around but she hit his head off the second rope. Now I don’t know how much training she had prior to this match, but it looks pretty basic at the moment. I think it is basic as she hit a clothesline that was the guy running at her arm. Taking a dropkick is pretty basic but it looked poor, hope the next match I see is an improvement. Oh by the way I’m not bitching, I knew everyone of the Tough Enough cast had training and had been wrestling beforehand except Rima Fakiah. Ninja Bill did a move to her I just can’t explain good enough , it was a belly to belly suplex to begin with but weirdly ended looking like a fisherman suplex as he gets the pinfall for only a 2 count. She pushed the referee out of the way and when Ninja Bill came off the top rope she hit the guy in the crotch area kind of but the referee was still facing forward, DQ much? After that move she got the three count and the victory.

Match rating: 4/10 (But come on she was facing a guy as well)

Next match is Ivelisse against Melanie Cruise. Melanie Cruise is currently a member of the SHIMMER roster (SHIMMER being the top Women’s wrestling company in the USA and the World). Ivelisse is a face during this match which I believe she obviously would work better as. She is so much smaller than her 6’ 0” opponent Melanie Cruise who is from Chicago, Illinois. Like the previous match the heel (Cruise) started off by attacking the face (Ivelisse) from behind. Ivelisse is certainly better as a face as she had the crowd behind her when beating up Melanie Cruise. Unlike the first match it looks like she knows what she is doing in the ring and has command over it and this event was 14 days after the first one I reviewed. The finish at first was a bit botched as it looked like she was going for a hurricanrana, she sends Cruise over the top rope when it turns around and gets disqualified (Weird rule). Overall better than the first match.

Match rating: 7/10

So mixed feelings there, saw her face a man and a woman, won only one of the matches but looked better in the other. As obvious she would become a diva with the WWE if she had won Tough Enough, I can say Ivelisse aka Juliet “The Huntress” was actually tough enough. Hope to see more from her in the future.

Drew McIntyre - The Chosen One?

Drew McIntyre is he still the Chosen One?

Andrew Galloway known to me and you as Drew McIntyre is a Scottish professional wrestler working with the WWE. McIntyre began his career by training at the FWA Academy in Portsmouth when his family moved from Scotland to Portsmouth. In the FWA Academy he was trained by Mark Sloan, Justin Richards and James Tighe but has also said regular roster members also helped with training including, Doug Williams, Paul Burchill and Alex Shane.

He made his overall debut on the inaugural show of British Championship Wrestling of which he found fame winning the Heavyweight Championship twice. In 2004 he faced many American veterans such as The Honkey Tonk Man, Marty Janetty in a tag team match and D’ Lo Brown. Mick Foley refereed a match between Galloway and Jay Phoenix who had a lengthy feud.

In Irish Whip Wrestling, Drew Galloway had a lengthy feud with “S.O.S.”, Sheamus O'Shaunessy who later became Sheamus in the WWE. Drew Galloway then later down the line became the Irish Whip Wrestling International World Heavyweight Champion. While on tour of the UK, Galloway also won the Insane Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship but also had matches with guys like TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd) and Chad Collyer in All Star Wrestling.

It was in late 2006 where Drew Galloway had his first tryout with the WWE alongside Sheamus and had yet another in April 2007 when the WWE were in London. On the 12th October 2007, Galloway made his debut as Drew McIntyre with Dave Taylor at his side to defeat Brett Major (Zack Ryder) on Smackdown and then the next week defeated Brian Major (Curt Hawkins) the following week with the help of Dave Taylor. In January 4th 2008 he defeated Charlie Haas on the Raw brand but then disappeared from television.

It was in 2009 when McIntyre made his return to television on the Smackdown brand now acting as a heel and attacking R-Truth for a few weeks before attacking Charlie Haas during one of the shows claiming Haas’ opponent R-Truth was injured backstage. 25th September was when he gained the name, “The Chosen One” by the WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon as Vince McMahon called him a “future World Champion”. His first match was against R-Truth at the Hell in a Cell Pay Per View where he defeated R-Truth in under 5 minutes using the Future Shock DDT. McIntyre then became a member of Team Miz at Survivor Series where he teamed with former rival, Sheamus and was along with The Miz and Sheamus the last men standing in the traditional Survivor Series match.

Winning his first championship came when Drew McIntyre defeated John Morrison for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. His first loss following an undefeated streak came against Kane in a Money in the Bank Qualifying match and then later against Matt Hardy but at both shows Mr. McMahon told Smackdown general manager, Theodore Long to expunge the losses. He then qualified for the Money in the Bank by defeating an unsigned wrestler. His undefeated streak however came to an end against The Undertaker. He failed to win the Money in the Bank match itself at WrestleMania 26 which would be his first WrestleMania match.

He lost his title by having it stripped off him by Teddy Long and was suspended for purpose of a storyline, Mr. McMahon then forced for him to be reinstated the following week and he was Intercontinental Champion again but he then lost his championship to Kofi Kingston at Over the Limit. During an episode of Smackdown on the 25th of June, Teddy Long had told Drew McIntyre his work visa had expired and would have to go back to Scotland immediately but this was not just storyline because McIntyre’s work visa had indeed expired taking him off television for the time being. After two weeks he returned and apologized to Teddy Long to be re-instated. He then qualified for the match with a pay per view now named after it, Money in the Bank by defeating Kofi Kingston but yet again came out with the short straw during the match.

At the Night of Champions pay per view, Drew McIntyre who had teamed with “Dashing” Cody Rhodes while feuding with Matt Hardy and Christian became the WWE Tag Team Champions in a five-team tag team turmoil match, with the Tag Team Championships they were able to appear on both Raw and Smackdown. At Bragging Rights they then lost the championships to The Nexus (John Cena and David Otunga). The Smackdown after the pay per view the team then broke up following an argument.

Now on the Raw brand after being drafted in 2011 we have not seen much of Drew McIntyre. Bret Hart recently spoke up by saying that talent like Drew McIntyre shouldn’t be wasted on Superstars (funnily enough that Drew McIntyre was used this Monday on Raw when Bret Hart was there), but Jim Ross has also claimed that he likes the potential he has but just doesn’t like the fact he has no character other than he is Scottish and what his objectives are.

Drew McIntyre known as “The Chosen One” has never had a chance to go for the top title on which ever brand he is on. Having already won the Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships, if Drew McIntyre ever got his chance at becoming a WWE/World Champion, “The Chosen One” would be a new Grand Slam Champion in the WWE. I for one would like to see, Drew McIntyre develop more of a character to become the future of the WWE.

The Indy Rant: NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood

I've not been watching this from the beginning but I have seen a few episodes. This episode is number 35 with a main event of Joey Ryan and one of my favourite indy wrestlers and the favourite of everyone else, Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana. The introduction video features some of teh greats of NWA with seemingly a Ric Flair style theme and also a few clips from the past shows I believe.

We kick off with tag match, Famous B, Ryan Taylor and Aaron Bolo against Rico Dynamite, Ray Rosas and "Pretty" Peter Avalon. So far into it and so good, pretty basic independent wrestling tag team tactics are used from the heels and the valet at ringside isn't much of a distraction from the action, which they shouldn't be but sometimes that happens. Pretty decent wrestling with a bit of high flying from the face team and what a way to end the match, as the commentator's said about feuding I believe the two groups are currently feuding and the use of the ropes with a handful of tights. Rico Dynamite, Ray rosas and "Pretty" Peter Avalon get the win.

Joey Ryan cuts a promo about asking for the title shot against Colt Cabana. Nice shot of Percy Pringle III during this little segment (if you don't know who Percy Pringle is then you don't really know Paul Bearer.

Next Match is Candice LeRae Vs Buggy and starts off with an ambush. Two beautiful women wrestlers (not divas) squaring off first time i've seen both of them in action really and good from the start. Nice thing that on my TV in the background is the Knockouts of TNA while i'm watching this match to review, to know my thoughts of the last IMPACT Wrestling check out the rest of the blog, but back to the match and Candice LeRae was pretty dominant. As the commentary team said during the match (this being a bit of a variation), what a nice bridging nothern lights suplex from Buggy. Candice LeRae lost the match due to disqualification, having locked in a grapevine and then what the commentators said was a modefied Indian death lock. Even more she hits one referee and then hits Buggy with a chair. Nice bit of womens wrestling there.

Colt Cabana cuts a promo now about Joey Ryan challenging him for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Colt Cabana is one of those wrestlers who you can't fail to like, there is no faults expect for how misused he was in the WWE.

Colt Cabana Vs Joey Ryan for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship is the main event. Not seen much of Joey Ryan. Colt Cabana like I said has amazing talent and an awesome amount of charisma, if WWE hire him again I hope they use him right, or even if TNA hire him. A match which is just under 18 minutes. It was a shame the Flying Apple got reversed into a spear from Joey Ryan. Colt locks in the Billy Goats Curse to win the match (a reverse boston crab).

On Thursday expect me to be going on about Ohio Valley Wrestling as well as my newest addition for a while where I review a couple of indy matches of the guys off Tough Enough. Up first, Ivelisse also known as Juliet "The Huntress".

WWE Monday Night Raw

So to kick off Raw we had a little bit of a promo from Jerry Lawler who then introduced Bret Hart down to the ring. R-Truth finally came down to the ring and then began to bring out his crazy side yet again (which i now like) and he pretends to play Bret Hart for a second, that moment was funny, placing some of Bret Hart's shades on the head of a little child and then claiming that he should now be number one contender because that is what Bret used to do. John Cena then begins to interrupt just a R-Truth was going to head to the back, he calls Truth back down to the ring and says a little bit about him before mocking him and talking to Bret for a minute. He then goes back on the little rant of how Truth has now gone crazy talking about Jimmy before saying Truth's former catchphrase of whats up which got Truth pissed. The Raw anonymous general manager (which is still dragging on) grants R-Truth a chance to become number one contender, only if he shines in the main event where CM Punk teams with R-Truth to take on Rey Mysterio and John Cena. So does this mean CM Punk and Rey Mysterio will feud again? Something i don't want to see, again. But i forgot Bret Hart is the special guest referee in the main event.

A nice little segment right now where Kane and Big Show are talking about the Nexus running around like a pack of wolves. Big Show sits on Alberto Del Rio's car and Ricardo Rodriguez runs up to him talking in Spanish about how Show is sitting on Del Rio's car (which even though i didn't catch a word, it was quite obvious he was on about that). Big Show then pushes him down to the floor before Del Rio comes into view and begins talking in Spanish himself, Kane and Big Show begin to leave and Del Rio just forces Rodriguez off the floor.

First match of the night is a WWE Tag Team Title match. So the team who beat Kane and Big Show on the Raw before Over The Limit in Otunga and McGillicutty are facing Kane and Big Show for the titles as Punk is on commentary and Mason Ryan is right next to him. One thing i learnt when i was training was first match of the night should not feature a referee bump (i was the referee). WWE have played that when Mason Ryan interfered and Kane forced him out of the ring, little nature boy himself, Charles Robinson took a bump to the head and was knocked down for as long as CM Punk to kick the head of The Big Show and for Otunga & McGillicutty to get a double DDT on the big guy, thus seeing yet again the two smaller guys in the Nexus winning the Tag Team Championships. Punk and Ryan may as well have won last night if the titles were going to the Nexus.

Big Show cuts an angry promo to Scott Stanford about being pissed off with what just happened. Del Rio comes in and slaps The Big Show and runs off, the camera begins to play up weirdly before we see Ricardo Rodriguez has ran over The Big Show with Kane giving chase to Del Rio as well. If they want to do a running over at least do it Stone Cold and Rikishi style. So after the long awaited break we were back to Big Show and Kane where The Big Show is forcing himself to stand on the injured leg.

Next match which is Jack Swagger Vs Evan Bourne. Not really a squash match but not the longest as Evan Bourne lost to Jack Swagger. Swagger seemingly will either be going for United States title fame or be getting a push towards the big one in the future. Not really any character there other than his All American American background. Ankle lock fail came back around as Evan was then hit with the gutwrench powerbomb to end the match. One good thing to come out of Evan Bourne in that match was the kick to Swagger's head after the match.

Not a big fan of the divas myself... well most of them but their segment backstage was ok as Michael Cole was walking we see him put out the hand for Eve to shake and she raises her boot for him to kiss. When he does come out we end the "Can i have your attention please" cathphrase and even when Cole says the spotlight shouldn't be on him the fans boo him. So after the whole appology we put the Cole/Lawler situation behind us.

Kind of an expected promo from The Miz blaming Alex Riley for him losing the match against Cena and Morrison at Extreme Rules, the match against Cena where he bought the title into the ring and finally at Over The Limit where he left his mobile phone (which how did the referee know it was his?). For once we can see there was a background on the laptop at ringside for the Raw GM other than what normally seems a pre-loaded message. Cole isn't the voice of the Raw GM now then? But The Miz has now been screwed out of a future title shot which was expected. The Miz finally fired Alex Riley from his contract with him like what was epxpected forcing Alex Riley to beat up The Miz, does this mean he will finally begin wrestling on Smackdown where he is a superstar? The good thing to come out of this for him, a chant.

Bring on the Divas. 8 diva tag match with the Bellas, Maryse and Melina teaming together against Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres. Just as the match got started out came Kharma who sadly wasn't at hte pay per view. But with 8 divas in the ring all of them believe they can take her on. WWE had Kharma come into the middle of the ring and have a breakdown which was a bit of a mindfuck.

Big hype for the fact we got Drew McIntyre on Raw again and against the current WWE United States Champion, Kofi Kingston. I don't know if Drew was on the show because Bret Hart was in town, the guy who recently spoke up for him. Nice finish to the match even if Kingston did beat McIntyre.

Backstage segment where The Nexus are happy about winning the titles adnd then we got Punk just say that the group should watch what he is going to do, just a basic filler promo to kill time.

Del Rio is cutting a promo backstage in which we can expect a feud with Alberto Del Rio and Big Show. Ricardo Rodriguez got the blame for the backstage accident. So can we see Rodriguez wrestling in the future?

Such an awesome tribute for Randy Savage, even while i'm in the sixth form while writing this it bought a tear to my eye. Macho Man was a legend and as Lawler said he will always be a Hall of Famer. We can expect to see him inducted next year.

Main event time and Bret Hart is first down to the ring to be the special guest referee. Very awesome tribute for Randy Savage is "Macho Man" CM Punk on Raw. To kick it off R-Truth got beat up and thrown out of the ring and when we came back CM Punk was beating up Cena in the corner. I'm sorry but when Punk picked up Cena and was going for the GTS it was very noticable that he told him what was happening. Why did Bret Hart get involved during that awesome build up for the finish? Bit annoyed with that for a finish.

Pretty decent matches on Raw for once even if we did get that waste of a match with the divas. Cena's celebration was better than the way Randy Orton celebrated on Smackdown.

Tomorrow, if i can be bothered to watch NXT i will review it, if not then give me ideas via my facebook of what to talk about.

Over The Limit

Over The Limit?

So to kick things off I’m on a quick good note of I liked the tribute for Randy Savage at the start and the couple of elbow drops I saw during the show, expecting they were paying tribute to Savage, but back to reality and here I go.

R-Truth such a how should I say, Scott Steiner promo cutter right now, can’t understand anything he is saying or the point he is getting across, only good part about his promo’s is the “WHAT?” chant, but back to the show. Rey Mysterio comes out as he is R-Truth’s opponent (even though in recent times it seemed like Del Rio was going to feud with Mysterio). Back to the match I don’t have any flaws with this one, Rey Mysterio and R-Truth put on a decent match and I certainly liked the way R-Truth celebrated with the water and then smacking it off the head of Mysterio.

Time for the awful one himself right now, yes I was only joking because The Miz in my honest opinion isn’t the best promo cutter, but he has watched some of the best if you know what I mean. A bit annoyed they didn’t change the W on the microphone to M like they normally do. A couple older names popped up in this promo, those being Batista and JBL. Always bringing up the fact now of there is people who said he wouldn’t do many things and the way he has proved them wrong and will go on to prove them again. You can tell when Alex Riley put his hand on The Miz’s shoulder WWE have planned for them to possibly have a falling out soon and with Riley on Smackdown when is he even going to actually compete over there?

Intercontinental championship time, the first title on the line at Over The Limit and we see Wade Barrett of The Corre going one on one with Ezekiel Jackson who was a part of The Corre. The fan that was chanting boring got on my nerves as the match had only just really started so obviously it is boring as nothing has happened except for them coming down to the ring. This was one of those matches on the night that was more mediocre not the best, but sure as hell not the worse match. First elbow drop of the night came in this match from Wade Barrett which to me looked like a tribute to Savage. As the match continued with saw plenty of scoop slams from Ezekiel Jackson to Wade Barrett which at first seemed good but when it dragged on got a bit boring and just as Jackson was putting Barrett on his shoulders Justin Gabriel of The Corre comes and attacks Jackson. Jackson wins the match but doesn’t gain the title due to the interference (of which the referee rang for the bell when Jackson was attacked). Jackson then began to beat up Gabriel, Heath Slater and Barrett with many more scoop slams until Barrett got one hit that was the end of Jackson as The Corre began to beat him down.

After the match we see Mason Ryan and CM Punk walking backstage to the Nexus locker room, David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty are in the locker room down on the floor and in pain, they ask who attacked them which was obviously their opponents, The Big Show and Kane but I thought WWE would have played a trick on us and had CM Punk tell the two guys before hand to act in pain until Mason Ryan leaves the room to get him angry about his opponents. Just as Mason Ryan is walking off CM Punk quickly comes back into the room and tells Otunga and McGillicutty to walk off the pain they are in which was kind of funny.

Sin Cara Vs Chavo Guerrero is the next match and yet again the big problem that is now becoming very annoying with Sin Cara’s matches is the lights. As Hurricane (Gregory Helms) would say what’s up with that? It becomes rather annoying now because even though I’m focused on the match that is happening I’m more focused on the fact the lighting is different to other matches. A few botches happened in the match but I did notice yet again, Sin Cara quickly turned them into something else; one I noticed was an arm drag which looked like Sin Cara was going for a springboard hurricanrana. Nice to see Chavo go for the Gory Special in the match shame he didn’t get to hit it and at least get a two count. My second biggest problem with this match overall was the finish, the other botch, you could see Sin Cara was going for a hurricanrana but he missed it and that was the finish of the match. I expected to see his finisher hit, such a shame a good match like that got ruined with a poor finish.

The backstage segment with Randy Orton and Christian was decent as both guys know how to cut promos such a shame of what happens later, but reaction wise I wasn’t shocked who was the winner of the match.

Our next match was the WWE Tag Team Championship match which started with Alberto Del Rio rambling on about the area to start with and then how it is his destiny to be the WWE champion (I’m sure I heard the same thing about the World Heavyweight Championship with him). Kane and Big Show then interrupt him and basically force him to leave by saying they will attack him just like they did to Otunga and McGillicutty if he doesn’t go. Just like the first title match this was mediocre. The fans that chanted Batista when Mason Ryan first got going made me laugh a little (even though I can’t see any resemblance still). Kind of obvious that the two big guys would be the victors in this match, good finish with the double chokeslam to Mason Ryan, kind of glad Punk and Ryan didn’t become champions but kind of also annoyed that they could have and then used the Freebird rule.

The Obama/Capitol Punishment section of the pay per view had me laughing as well due to the fact WWE was creative with that. Third title match in and we have Kelly Kelly attempting to become the Divas champion for the first time against Brie Bella (and Nikki Bella). Just like most divas matches I wasn’t bothered about watching it fully, the stinkface in the corner was comical. Kelly was a bit dominant until the switch came around which as the announcers said Brie asked for it I didn’t see that in the match, I just saw Nikki pull Brie out of the ring and then hit the X Factor (yes X Pac’s famous finisher).

Next match was the World Heavyweight Championship and this was another one of the matches with little flaws in it. Had me from start to finish and some people are pulling for it to be a match of the year contender already. The spear situation was confusing though as he rambled on saying spear until he attempted to hit it. Like I said earlier Orton had the biggest pop from the crowd so it was kind of fitting for him to retain the title after an awesome back and forth of going for Killswitch and going for the RKO before actually hitting the RKO and getting the win. The moment where Orton looked to be going for the punt was great but from that I thought he seemed the heel in the situation. After the match Christian pushed Orton who had helped him up and then went for a handshake which I didn’t understand, unless Christian is a tweener?

A match I didn’t give one crap about overall on this pay per view and the whole feud has dragged on as much as the Raw anonymous general manager (of which I believe it is Michael Cole, but still nothing has been said yet). Lawler was the obvious winner of the match, Eve coming and hitting him with a moonsault was nice, J.R putting the BBQ sauce in his mouth was funny and then Bret Hart locking him in the Sharpshooter for good, if anything the proceedings after the match had me rather than the overall match. I would have expected something to do with Swagger to happen but it just didn’t.

Main event time and it is time for the I Quit match for the WWE title. Quite a good match the use of the AWESOME balloon thing was pathetic as it was just opened and then closed. The match was great for me as the whole beat down of John Cena made him look weak compared to the whole super Cena he is. Yes Cena did say he doesn’t quit quite a lot but the use of weapons and everything else was great from The Miz. Am I the only one who thought the kid The Miz was talking to was planted? Steel chair to the head, if Triple H and Undertaker got fined surly The Miz should? Only if though, the use of the mobile phone and the recording of Cena saying I Quit was predictable. Referee restarting the match was obvious and then Miz got screwed over by Alex Riley yet again. Cena destroys The Miz and is still WWE Champion.

My biggest problem with the pay per view overall was no championships changed hands. Not even the small titles like the Tag Titles, Intercontinental or even Divas. Dark match (I wasn’t there but it is on Wikipedia) was Drew McIntyre against Daniel Bryan and Drew McIntyre lost. Shame both of these guys are being underutilized at the minute.

Check back tomorrow for my ramblings about Tough Enough and Raw.

A Tribute to Randy Savage

Randall Mario Poffo known worldwide as Randy Savage passed away on Friday in a car crash. But let’s remember the good things about Randy Savage. I may not have been alive while Randy was at his peak in the 80’s as I’m a 90’s kid, but Randy Savage was still at it while I was growing up. Watching WCW I remember Savage being a part of the NWO while I was growing up. But because of the internet and websites which allow you to view old school pay per views and programming I get to watch Randy in his actual prime.

Everyone knows that Savage had such an amazing match at WrestleMania III when he faced Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. This match was the match to end a lengthy feud by the two stars where Savage had crushed Steamboat’s larynx. Both guys athleticism is what made the match the classic it is today and one of the matches talked about when you think of Randy Savage.

Savage was one of the many prestigious holders of the Intercontinental Championship and the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. The teaming of “The Mega Powers” with Hulk Hogan was a top alliance back then being two top draws at the box office. The Mega Powers main feud was with The Mega Bucks (Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase) and in 1991 we saw the retirement of Randy Savage from an active role as he lost to The Ultimate Warrior in a retirement match at WrestleMania VII. But later in that year after starting off his commentating role Savage proposed to Miss Elizabeth which led to a feud with Jake “The Snake” Roberts who planted a live snake in one of the gift boxes at the wedding.

Bringing it forward a bit in 1994 he arrived on the scene of WCW where it was speculated that he would either shake the hand of Hogan or slap him, but it was the save that culminated to a handshake when Savage saved Hogan from a beatdown by the 3 Faces of Fear. In 1997 however we saw Savage turn on the fans and join the elite wrestling stable known as the New World Order. To begin with he helped out Hulk Hogan to defeat Roddy Piper, we saw Savage be reunited with Miss Elizabeth as he went on to feud with Diamond Dallas Page and his wife Kimberly.

It was in 2004 at least 5 years after Savage had left the WCW and wrestling in 1999 that he showed up on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA Wrestling) to confront Jeff Jarrett. At Turning Point (a TNA PPV) he then teamed up with Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles to defeat the Kings of Wrestling (Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). In 2005 he was scheduled to face Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (TNA was under the NWA banner at the time), Savage wanted to win the belt and then lose it back to Jarrett at the next TNA pay per view but in December of 2004, Savage left TNA due to a dispute over how a match was supposed to finish at the next PPV.

In 2009, Savage had a DVD released about his work in professional wrestling by the World Wrestling Entertainment. The DVD would be known as Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection. The DVD 3 disk set hosted by Maria Kaneills and Matt Striker featured over 8 hours of matches and promos but didn’t feature any biography or documentary about Randy Savage. Savage was also introduced more recently to the WWE All Star game.

Sadly the end is here, Randall Mario Poffo aka Randy Savage your presence in wrestling as well as the famous elbow drop will be sadly missed, Rest in Peace, Randy Savage.
