I've not been watching this from the beginning but I have seen a few episodes. This episode is number 35 with a main event of Joey Ryan and one of my favourite indy wrestlers and the favourite of everyone else, Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana. The introduction video features some of teh greats of NWA with seemingly a Ric Flair style theme and also a few clips from the past shows I believe.
We kick off with tag match, Famous B, Ryan Taylor and Aaron Bolo against Rico Dynamite, Ray Rosas and "Pretty" Peter Avalon. So far into it and so good, pretty basic independent wrestling tag team tactics are used from the heels and the valet at ringside isn't much of a distraction from the action, which they shouldn't be but sometimes that happens. Pretty decent wrestling with a bit of high flying from the face team and what a way to end the match, as the commentator's said about feuding I believe the two groups are currently feuding and the use of the ropes with a handful of tights. Rico Dynamite, Ray rosas and "Pretty" Peter Avalon get the win.
Joey Ryan cuts a promo about asking for the title shot against Colt Cabana. Nice shot of Percy Pringle III during this little segment (if you don't know who Percy Pringle is then you don't really know Paul Bearer.
Next Match is Candice LeRae Vs Buggy and starts off with an ambush. Two beautiful women wrestlers (not divas) squaring off first time i've seen both of them in action really and good from the start. Nice thing that on my TV in the background is the Knockouts of TNA while i'm watching this match to review, to know my thoughts of the last IMPACT Wrestling check out the rest of the blog, but back to the match and Candice LeRae was pretty dominant. As the commentary team said during the match (this being a bit of a variation), what a nice bridging nothern lights suplex from Buggy. Candice LeRae lost the match due to disqualification, having locked in a grapevine and then what the commentators said was a modefied Indian death lock. Even more she hits one referee and then hits Buggy with a chair. Nice bit of womens wrestling there.
Colt Cabana cuts a promo now about Joey Ryan challenging him for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Colt Cabana is one of those wrestlers who you can't fail to like, there is no faults expect for how misused he was in the WWE.
Colt Cabana Vs Joey Ryan for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship is the main event. Not seen much of Joey Ryan. Colt Cabana like I said has amazing talent and an awesome amount of charisma, if WWE hire him again I hope they use him right, or even if TNA hire him. A match which is just under 18 minutes. It was a shame the Flying Apple got reversed into a spear from Joey Ryan. Colt locks in the Billy Goats Curse to win the match (a reverse boston crab).
On Thursday expect me to be going on about Ohio Valley Wrestling as well as my newest addition for a while where I review a couple of indy matches of the guys off Tough Enough. Up first, Ivelisse also known as Juliet "The Huntress".
